Montana, Montana, Glory of the West...

Last weekend, I was able to get a couple days off work and Eric and I, and 2 of our good friends went for a trip to Montana to see my family. It was so fun to be able to go up there and just spend time with my family and show my friends a little of what it's like to live in Montana. One of our goals was to be able to go for a horse ride. My dad didn't have enough horses, so we were going to borrow my uncle's horses. Well when it came down to it, my uncle needed to get his calves in and re-tag them, so we helped with that. It was so fun! Grant had never ridden a horse before, and Amy hadn't for a long time, so they got the 2 most experienced horses and the rest of us rode on what was left. We just had to herd the cattle from one field to another and then into the corrals.

Don't we look like a bunch of ranchers and cowboys? It was a blast to show our friends some of what we do when we go to Montana. Also, Amy shot her first gun ever. There were a bunch of birds flying in my parents' trees and ruining their apples, so dad said we could shoot the gun to scare them. He showed Amy everything she needed to know and then took her outside and let her shoot. It was so funny to see her face as the shot fired...and don't worry, she was farther away from our house than what it looks like here :).
